Read on to find out what International Women’s Day means to our team and how are we Choosing to Challenge!
Dominic Lynch, General Manager, Orion Consulting
As a project leader, and now as a business leader, I have always valued the power of diversity within the teams in which we operate. Throughout my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to have worked for and worked with some remarkable women who have inspired me to become the professional I am today. Without doubt, this has influenced the culture and the environment in which I now choose to work. The events past 12 months have created a unique opportunity to look at our personal and professional behaviours through a different lens and to do things differently. Personally, I totally embrace the message of choose to challenge. Let’s take the opportunity to challenge ourselves, our peers, and our industry to do what is right. We will all be better off for it.
Marie Crisafulli, Senior Civil Design Engineer, Orion Consulting
International Women’s Day is a day I reflect on my personal and professional achievements as a working mother and give recognition to the environment and support of those people who have allowed me to thrive as a parent, a family member, a friend, and as a professional engineer. I choose to challenge myself into stepping up further as a visible role model to the younger generation of employees at Orion by demonstrating that career goals can be achieved alongside other personal and family commitments.
Joshua Pineda, Senior Project Manager, Orion Consulting
International Women’s Day serves as an important reminder to acknowledge and recognize the significant contributions of women in and out of the Orion workplace. It is also a time to reflect and challenge our own individual gender intelligence, ensuring we educate each other on the daily issues women face, choosing to respond swiftly to actual and perceived discrimination, and lastly, allying with our female counterparts to facilitate genuine equality. Achieving this will be to the benefit of all.
Edmund Tsang, Construction Manager, Orion Consulting
The Orion Construction team is now comprised of 20% women. Our selection process is based on work ethics and the ability to do a job and never on gender. Being a father of 2 girls I want to ensure that the decisions and examples we choose to live by today are here for the future when they grow up and become decision-makers in their future fields.
