Your Role

  • As a Drainage Design Engineer (Industrial & Infrastructure) your main duties will include drainage design supporting the civil engineering team working on urban road infrastructure and industrial subdivision developments. The role will involve elements of Project and Construction Management as required.


  • OSD design, basin design, WSUD and stormwater drainage design
  • Pavement grading design (Carparks, hardstands), bulk earthworks, sediment & erosion control
  • Preferrable experience in 12D and/or Civil Site Design
  • Proficient in CAD, DRAINS, MUSIC
  • Good communication skills
  • Develop innovative solutions to problems and take necessary action to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects
  • Coordinate design and drafting tasks with drafters in accordance with Orion’s standards.
  • Adoption, promotion, and adherence to the Orion Consulting’s Integrated Management (IMS) System
  • Ensure work output is of a technically high standard, meets client needs, and activities are commercially viable
  • Implementation of good practice, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to support the ongoing success of the business.

Skills and Expertise

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5+ years in civil engineering design and drafting
  • Intermediate working knowledge in the use of 12D / or Civil Site Design, DRAINS, MUSIC and AutoCAD software
  • Demonstrated understanding of road and civil design principles
  • Demonstrated understanding of Austroads Design Guides, Australian Standards and Local Council Design Guides
  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Efficient time management skills to achieve project deadlines
  • Ability to work and communicate within a team
